WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE A STATION AT FARMDALE AVENUE?

The newly proposed Expo Line station at Farmdale Avenue would bring a convenient, safe and timely transit alternative to the community. The train would make a COMPLETE STOP at the Farmdale Avenue station to pick up and drop off passsengers.

Neighborhood Station

A neighborhood station at Farmdale Avenue is being proposed for the Expo Line. This new station would allow for increased mobility of local residents and Dorsey High School staff and students. The station would provide convenient access to employment and activity centers along the new transit corridor.

Improved Safety

The train would make a complete stop at the Farmdale Avenue station to pick up and drop off passengers. The Farmdale Avenue crossing would include traffic signals and additional street lighting. It would also have state-of-the-art safety improvements such as signalization along with quad gates, pedestrian gates, and LED train approaching signs.

Increased Security

As a result of the proposed Farmdale Station, a parking lot for Dorsey High School staff with provisions for an LAUSD police security hub would be built at the corner of Farmdale and Exposition, where a motel is currently located. The parking lot and security hub would provide Dorsey staff with access to secure, well lit parking adjacent to the school.

Station Design
The Expo Line is a “Transit Parkway” which includes a bike route, as well as landscaping and art at each station. To capture the culture and history of the Farmdale Station area, artists would design original art works that would be displayed at the station.
Investment in the Local Community
The new Farmdale Station is a $10-$15 million additional investment
in the local community. The station would connect people to businesses in the Crenshaw and Mid-Cities Communities, as well as to downtown LA and Culver City.
Local Jobs and Contracting Opportunities
Construction of the Farmdale Station would create good paying construction jobs. These additional jobs would help meet our Local Jobs Program goal of hiring local residents to work at least 30% of the construction hours for the project. The proposed station would also provide further opportunity to meet our project goal of awarding contracts to small and minority owned businesses. The Expo Authority has already awarded over $105 million in subcontracts to Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms as of March 2010.
